Traveling is one of the best things you can do. It opens your eyes to new experiences, new cultures, and new possibilities. It gives you the chance to see things that you wouldn’t usually see, and research has proved that traveling and experiences make us happier. But, how we each travel is different. I’m one of those individuals that usually travel on my own. Throughout the year I go on lots of mini-solo trips, and my most recent solo trip aboard I visited Ireland for 10 days.
One of the things I love about solo travel is that I find it to be more freeing. I can create my itinerary around my own interests, and stop to take photos on a whim. But, there is something to be said for traveling with someone you love. You get to share those experiences with the person you care most about, and it just makes the experience so much more fun and romantic with them by your side. I’d have to say, exploring Halkidiki, Greece with its charming small towns, fantastic food, and amazing beaches would not have been the same without the love of my life.

What was my favorite beach in Halkidiki, Greece? Karidi Beach! Not only did it have shallow warm water, it also had cool rocks to climb on and explore. * * * #dreambigtravelsmall #VisitHalkidiki #Halkidiki #Greece #VisitGreece #exploregreece #seetheworld #travelbloggers #travelwriter #greecetagram #instagood #beaches #beach #AgeanSea #IFWTWA
Dreaming of Traveling the World With the Love of Your Life
It’s during winter days in the Pacific Northwest that we both start dreaming of all the warm weather destinations on our bucket list. I have to say, we each have our own bucket list destinations, but there are a few we agree upon. So, if you’re thinking – or dreaming – of going on holiday with the love of your life, I thought I’d share a couple of our dream destinations. I’m not sure if we will make it there this year, but you never know!
Peru is high on both of our lists with its world famous site Machu Picchu. But, we also know there is so much more to this amazing country and want to explore its small towns, learn about its culture, and try guinea pig (that one might be only on my list!). Peru attracts so many couples, solo travelers, and groups of backpackers, and for good reason. It isn’t just Machu Picchu that attracts people, it’s the whole culture of Peru that people seem to love, including out of this world food and plenty of places to stay.
You can find plenty of holidays on the internet, https://www.gadventures.com/contact-us/, some of which cater to your travel style. There are nature trails to follow with guided tours to help you along the way, and all those Instagram worthy shots your dying to take. I know many travelers, have a finite number of vacation days, and one thing I’ve learned over the years is not to have an intense travel itinerary, but invest your time in one place and explore it slowly. At the end of the day, when you are done with all the sightseeing, you’ll have the energy to spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach, sipping local cocktails and eventually watching the sun go down.
Mexico- Riviera Maya
I’ve been to Mexico, but not this part, and we’d both love to explore the Riviera Maya and visit Chichen Itza. If you are interested too, Miss Tourist.com has some great information about the area at https://misstourist.com. On a vacation here, we would most likely opt for a luxurious couples getaway with a mix of activities and relaxation. That is mostly due to me being a hot weather wimp. Thankfully, the hubs also likes to relax so in warm weather so our attitudes about not overdoing it, fair well. The hotels are usually so big that they have all the restaurants and bars that you could dream of going to, and the five-star resorts aim to treat you like royalty. Who doesn’t need a little pampering now and then? Since I’m a boutique hotel fan, I’d want to go that route. A trip here does require some weather-wise planning as you don’t want to get caught in a hurricane or the tropical season, but that in itself would create a memorable shared travel experience.
