February is the month dedicated to love, and chocolate has become Valentine’s Day’s ultimate seductive symbol. According to the Smithsonia.com, this pairing began in 1861 when Richard Cadbury put cupids and rosebuds on heart-shaped boxes of chocolates. In 1907, Milton Hershey, launched his famous chocolate kisses, and six years later, Russel Stover started selling their Valentine’s chocolates in heart-shaped boxes like the “Secret Lace Heart” in department stores all over the Midwest.
Last spring, I ventured north of the border to Tofino, British Columbia and fell head over heels for this Canadian surf town and the hand-crafted chocolates from Chocolate Tofino.
If you haven’t heard about Tofino, here are six reasons it should be on your bucket list.
While chatting with the owners, Kim and Cam, (cue the aroma of melting chocolate) I couldn’t help but gush over their story of travelers who came to Tofino to surf and ending each day at the chocolate shop. A few months later, they followed their chocolate passion by moving to Tofino and becoming the owners of that same chocolate shop!
To celebrate this month of romance, I’ve partnered with Chocolate Tofino to give away the perfect Valentine’s Day gift.
