When coming up with romantic dinner ideas, casinos in Washington State might not be on the top of your list for that special night out. If you are unfamiliar with the casino scene, you might be surprised to discover that many casinos have fine dining restaurants perfect for romantic dinners. Some even have the added wow factor of tableside service.
Throughout my travels I’ve had the pleasure of dining at three casino restaurants in small towns in Washington State, Masselow’s Steakhouse at the Northern Quest Casino, The Steak House at Silver Reef Casino, and 13moons at the Swinomish Casino. Each one has exceptional food and service. If you are looking for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner or want to mark a special occasion like an anniversary or milestone, put these award-winning casino restaurants on your list for date night ideas and romantic getaways.

Romantic Dinners at Three Casinos in Washington State
13moons at Swinomish Casino
13moons at the Swinomish Casino & Lodge is on Fidalgo Island (about 10 minutes from Anacortes, Washington). The restaurant vibe is modern and classy, and I suggest making a reservation in advance and requesting a window table with a view of Mount Baker.
Arrive 30 minutes before your reservation to enjoy a cocktail in the lounge where you can gaze up at the 13 moon ceiling calendar or cozy up next to the giant outdoor fireplace on the patio and admire one of the best views in the Skagit Valley.
The 13moons menu focuses on seafood, much of which is locally-caught by the tribe, and meat. Appetizers tend to be seafood forward with steamed Penn Cove mussels, Dungeness crab cakes, and white truffle sea scallops. Some of my favorites are the truffle frites and fried brie with fig and apple jam. Their seafood entrees shine, and wild sockeye salmon and halibut are often on the menu. During berry season, the chef includes a divine berry component. Other delicious choices include the Kobe burger with Snake River Farms wagyu beef with bacon, brie, and apple jam on a brioche bun, the bone-in ribeye with garlic mash and the Marsala mushroom pork chop.
Stay at the Swinomish Casino & Lodge
To turn your romantic dinner into a romantic getaway, stay at the Swinomish Casino & Lodge in one of their contemporary and stylish rooms with Swinomish Tribal artwork.
The deluxe bay view rooms are a great choice, as they have a small patio with doors that open to take in the full view of the bay and the Cascade Mountains. To upgrade, choose a suite which has a separate living room area, private balcony and jetted tub.
Travel tip: You do not have to walk through the casino to get to 13moons. Enter through the lodge entrance and walk up the curved stairway to the second floor.
The Steak House at Silver Reef Casino
The Steak House at Silver Reef Hotel Casino Spa is in Ferndale, Washington (about 20 minutes north of Bellingham). The restaurant is very cozy with intimate booths and tables. Their menu focuses heavily on seafood and red meat, and with their extensive wine menu, they’ll help you find that perfect wine pairing.
Starters include items like lobster ravioli, escargot, and carpaccio of beef. For your entree, I recommend one of their eight steak cuts cooked to perfection. On the seafood side, there are tasty dishes like crab-stuffed prawns, twin lobster tails and grilled Alaskan salmon. Be sure to save enough room for one of the tasty treats on the dessert cart.
To take the dining experience up a notch, choose one of their tableside services for steak Diane, Chateaubriand for two, steak au poivre, or a Caesar salad for two.
Stay at Silver Reef Casino Hotel Spa
For a romantic weekend getaway, book a room at the Silver Reef Casino Hotel Spa. Guest rooms are classic in style with down comforters and a heavenly triple-body-jet shower.
To go all out reserve a suite on the Diamond Executive floor that has a separate living area with a wet bar and includes access to a private lounge. The following morning, enjoy a complimentary breakfast and for more romantic indulgences arrange for a couples massage at the spa.
Travel tip: To get to the restaurant you do have to walk through the casino.
Masselow’s Steakhouse at Northern Quest Casino
The first casino dining experience that impressed me was Masselow’s Steakhouse in Northern Quest Casino. Located in Airway Heights, Washington (16-minute drive from downtown Spokane), the restaurant is known for its wine list and juicy steaks. If you love ribeyes as I do, you’ll have two choices, beef or bison.
Other tempting selections include bone-in Porterhouse steaks, New York, and filet mignon. There is nothing better than a flavorful ribeye to set things right in the world!
On the lighter side, creative seafood dishes include Chilean sea bass, North Atlantic lobster tail, and Alaskan king crab legs. Wrap-up the experience with tableside bananas foster with a house-made rum caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream.
Masselow’s Steakhouse is named after Chief Masselow of the Kalispel Tribe; this warm and inviting restaurant is inside Northern Quest Resort & Casino and has recently rebranded itself as a steakhouse.
It’s working—the night they hosted my dinner the entire restaurant filled up. It is the only restaurant to receive an AAA Four Star Diamond Rating in Greater Spokane (about 12 minutes west of Spokane).
Restaurant highlights: The meal begins with a bite-sized morsel of fry bread (even at breakfast), there are nine prime-grade steaks to choose from (can’t go wrong with a rib eye), 35 wines by the glass and 325 bottles of wine to choose from, crab legs are sliced open horizontally, so there’s no mess, and bananas foster is prepared tableside.
Stay at the Northern Quest Resort & Casino
Many of the casinos in Washington State go all out with services, and Northern Quest Resort & Casino is one of them. Along with posh and spacious rooms with a pillow menu and triple-body-jet showers, they have an onsite spa with a co-ed whirlpool with cascading water, and the spa area includes an experiential shower. If you’d rather relax with a cigar and scotch, head to the casino’s very classy cigar lounge.
Travel tip: You do not have to go through the casino to get to Masselow’s Steakhouse. Enter at the hotel entrance, and it is to the right of the lobby.
